Henderson Island is well known for its abundant wildlife and history. Accessed by private barge across Lake Chotard in Ms, Henderson is one of the most well-known hunting getaways in the South. Henderson is primarily bow hunting with some acres set aside for kids rifle hunting. In addition to Whitetail, Henderson is home to turkey, ducks, fishing, and small game. You can expect to see an abundance of deer per sit with many of those animals being bucks. There has been a management plan in place for more than 20 years and many Pope and Young whitetails have been taken in that time frame. Henderson is completely surrounded by water with over 3 miles of Mississippi River frontage and over 7 miles of Lake Chotard frontage. There are numerous fishing lakes and sloughs throughout the Island that promises great bass, crappie, bream and catfish. Chotard is known as one of the premier public fishing lakes in the Delta as well. Over the years, Henderson was known to hold large numbers of turkeys as well. I saw a flock last time I was over there. With a few low river springs, the turkey numbers could be back. Duck hunting the sloughs on Henderson has been known to be second to none. There are over 100 stands in place ranging from the lock on to ladders that can be used by the shareholders. The main lodge is open to the shareholders and there is sleeping quarters as well as full-time staff for cooking meals and cleaning game
