An extensive, diverse hunting tract with over one mile of Des Moines River frontage. This property is an excellent wildlife habitat with mature hardwood trees along the river outlined by over 100 acres of upland habitat and ponds. You can access the property off County Road 13. A long gravel driveway will take you back to an old gravel pit. This gravel pit area measures over 20 acres. These acres are not enrolled in government programs and would be a great location for deer camp. Not only is this a convenient area to park and set up camp, but it is also a great deer and turkey habitat with rolling, wooded terrain. Just south of the gravel pit area is an open field of native grasses. Some of these acres have an active CRP contract until the fall of 2028, with an annual payment of $3,779. After 2028, these acres will be permanently enrolled into the Reinvest in Minnesota (RIM) program. This contract will round out the last of the CRP payments, and then there will be 168.6 acres enrolled in RIM moving forward. The grasslands have been well managed, with very few noxious weeds or volunteer trees. There is an established trail system leading around the grasslands. Throughout the RIM acres are multiple small ponds with open water. These ponds are great watering holes for whitetail deer. They also make for some added waterfowl hunting opportunities (especially wood ducks.) The woods along the river are littered with deer and turkey sign. This travel corridor for wildlife moving up and down the Des Moines River. Many hunters have experienced great success on this property. Multiple nice deer have been taken there over the years, and more recently, a healthy population of turkeys has shown up.
